Andy graduated West Virginia University in 2005, where he received his B.A. in advertising. College was a pivotal time for Andy, for it is during this time that he started his walk with Christ (due largely to a university ministry). This university ministry had such an impact on him that he developed a heart for the lost, especially College students.
After graduating, Andy took a few years off until God called him into a new university ministry and he has been working with the CCO and Cornerstone since 2007.
Andy has been married to Emily (whom he met in a university ministry) since 2004, and has three sons: Benjamin, Joshua and Asher.
Your Hometown: As a kid I moved around quite a few times, so I am a bit of a mutt. I have always considered my hometown to be Oak Hill, WV.
When and how did you come to Christ? This is the short version. If you want to know more, please contact me...
I grew up in a Christian household, and would have claimed to have been a Christian until high school but I never really understood what that meant until college.
I believe that a large part of early college is self discovery, or finding your identity. In high school, you are part of a cast system and you know who you are. Your identity has been defined by your popularity, your friends, and your family. When you reach college, all of that is gone and the slate has been wiped clean. Because of this, many high school students are unsure of who they are anymore. Their friends, family, and status of popularity are all gone - the playing field is now even. Often, this is the point of students trying to find out who they truly are.
This is the situation I found myself in. I no longer knew who I was. I entered college a self proclaimed athiest (though agnostic is a more fitting term), and soon felt at a loss when the relationship I once held dear were gone. I soon started asking myself the question, "Who am I?" The question soon turned into, "What can I do that will get people to like me?" I thought that the path to self discovery lay on a road that involved drinking and sex. These were the things that would define me...that would make me complete. But this road soon lead to addiction.
Shortly after September 11, after bouts of mild depression and drinking, I started asking this question again. "Who am I?" I soon found that my identity did not lie in things that this world has to offer, but my identity was in Jesus Christ. This all happened because a campus ministry helped me discover this. I was so grateful for those Campus Ministers who poured into my life and helped me learn this revelation, that eventually I dedicated myself to the same profession that would help confused college students learn that identity lies in Christ and Christ alone.
What’s your Favorite?
Movies: Do trilogies count as one movie if it's a complete thought? If so, I would say the original Star Wars trilogy (though I like the others as well...I'm a huge Star Wars nerd). If not, The Empire Strikes Back. I also enjoy Indiana Jones 1 & 3, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, It's a Wonderful Life, The Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy, Dumb & Dumber, and some of the Star Trek movies.
Television Shows: These probably change more than my movie list. I would say some favorites of mine are SportsCenter, Arrested Development, The Office, Psych, The Andy Griffith Show, Star Trek (the original series), and The Simpsons.
Books: This is probably the most difficult for me to answer, because it's hard for me to narrow it down. If I had to pick a few favorites non-Christian books, they would be Frankenstein, The Stormlight Archive, The Lord of the Rings (and The Hobbit), The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Les Misérables. I'm am also currently into the Star Wars High Republic books. As far as Christian books, the ones that have most influenced me are Strong and Weak by Andy Crouch, You are What You Love by James K.A. Smith, Liturgy of the Ordinary by Tish Harrison Warren, The Common Rule by Justin Whitmel Early, and Confessions by St. Augustine. Also, I love reading commentaries on the various books in The Bible.
Bands/Singers: My favorite band of all time is Five Iron Frenzy, a Colorado based christian/ska band. I also enjoy The Beatles, Queen, Relient K, Mumford and Sons, Fun., The Classic Crime, MxPx, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, Jimmy Eat World, Fall Out Boy, U2, Switchfoot, Anberlin, and various soundtracks.
Video Games: I enjoy a lot of older, more classic games as well as RPG's. My favorite video game series off all time is and old computer DOS game series from the early 90's called Commander Keen. The LucasArt's classic The Secret of Monkey Island is also a favorite of mine. The Mario, Zelda, and Final Fantasy games I enjoy a lot. The latest games I have enjoyed are Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham Origins, The Walking Dead, and Jedi Fallen Order game.
Foods: Hamburgers, Hot Wings, Sushi, Mexican food, Indian food, etc. I also really enjoy coffee.
What are your hobbies? When I am not working, or chasing my three boys, I enjoy reading, watching movies, and playing video games. I also really love sports, with my favorite teams being the Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins, and Steelers (I grew up near Pittsburgh for 5 years as a kid) and WVU Mountaineers. Though most would think that my favorite sport is football (due to my weird wealth of knowledge), it is probably baseball. Baseball is hard to talk about when your favorite team has had 20 straight losing seasons, which luckily has changed.
Fun Fact(s): I have a few:

Fun Fact(s): I have a few:
- I am a nerd at heart
- From the time I was in 3rd grade until I was a sophomore in college, I went to the ER at least twice a year. I have had six concussions and over a dozen broken bones...only four stitches though.
- Though not noticeable, I am missing a small chunk from my ear.
- I love almost all food except black licorice. I will eat anything.
