Areas of Ministry
|
Our areas of ministry teams are comprised of our leadership students! These Pitt students answered God's calling to serve their fellow students by planning and running events, leading Bible studies, and discipling their peers. |
Outreach, Prayer, & Service (OPS) Team
The OPS Team coordinates the overall vision and implementation of discipleship opportunities relating to outreach, service, and prayer on campus and in the broader community. Wednesday Night Team
This team is responsible for everything students might encounter from the time they arrive at Cornerstone to the time they leave. This includes facilitating the overall flow and quality of Cornerstone, meeting weekly with staff, working with the worship team on planning center and designing creative ways to foster relationships either during or after Cornerstone. In addition to Wednesday nights, this team also plans special events for the entire group throughout the semester such as Iron Chef Night, Karoke Night and Board Game Night.

Undergraduate Ministry Team
Our undergraduate ministry team is specifically geared to helping first-year and sophomore students grow in their faith and stay connected to a life-giving community throughout college. Our goal is to provide an environment where students can begin to form a community away from home during this pivotal transitional time in their lives. We hold a weekly bible study dedicated to undergraduate, as well as regular special events like trips around Pittsburgh and group bonding activities.

Small Groups
As a Christian ministry we believe that the Bible is foundational to understand how God has spoken and revealed himself to us. The Cornerstone Small Group ministry is a great way to investigate what the Bible says and how it relates to our everyday lives.
Small Groups provide opportunites to connect with others in a safe and intimate environment. Each study is led by a Cornerstone leadership student or staff member. This is a place to bring your genuine questions about Christianity and to seek what the Bible has to say about them. For more info: check out our Small Groups page |

Discipleship Team
“Discipling is the process of equipping, training, and encouraging another in his or her [relationship] to Jesus. It means journeying with and helping another to grow in knowledge as well as in the virtues and character of Christ” (Spiritual Disciplines Handbook, p. 135).
D-Groups are small, intimate, close-knit groups of 2-3 students led by a staff member or trained student. These groups focus on getting to know each other pesonally and spiritually deeply and helping each grow their relationships with God. They are a regular place of friendship, growth and questioning in a safe environment. The purpose of this team is to intentionally pour into other students who want to grow in their faith so that those being discipled can then go out and make more disciples of Jesus. Cross-Cultural Ministry Team
The Cross Cultural Ministry Team is new to Cornerstone! We work to bring about discussion across races, ethnicities, religion, and other backgrounds within the Cornerstone community and between different organizations. By talking about our own backgrounds, we hope to move towards a more united Church Body, to show hospitality to those with differences, to mourn together, and celebrate together.
In the past, we have had a Movie and Discussion Night, a Book Club and Study, and an Interfaith Weekend with Hillel and the Muslim student Association (MSA). We hope to have more and similar events to those in the future as well!
